Continuous Improvement Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA

JOB SUMMARY:
KYOCERA America, Inc., a leading manufacturer of semiconductor electronic packages, has an immediate opportunity in our San Diego, CA facility with the following responsibilities:

• Applies skills and provides guidance to define, measure, analyze, implement and control changes in operations or business practices to improve the company’s operations.
• Facilitates project team’s progress on projects with appropriate use of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools.
• Provides comprehensive, accurate, and timely project update and/or presentation to Manager of Continuous Improvement.
• Dedicates substantial time and effort for project work, in addition to providing guidance for those working part-time on projects.
• Manages personal workflow to allow time for completion of team/individual project work, as required.
• Develops and/or delivers training for management, professional/technical and hourly workforce in LSS techniques, as required.
• Evaluates and manages the use of outside consultants in support of in-house training as required.
• Promotes data-driven management approach by demonstrating positive problem solving on real issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 5 years active engineering experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in presentations and facilitation between employees, customers, suppliers and consultants.
• Ability to work productively with people of diverse backgrounds and experience./li>
• Ability to effectively influence various resources without direct line management responsibility.

EDUCATION:

• BS degree in engineering, physical sciences or equivalent experience required.
• Completion of training and certification at the Black Belt level through SDSU, UCSD, or a similar institution strongly preferred.
