Kyocera cones, capstans, and pulleys utilize the bolt-together composite design consisting of a metallic body core and flanges which locate the replaceable ceramic rings at the outer diameter, overcoming the thermal expansion mismatch between ceramic and metal and protecting the ceramic rings against damage. The composite construction has become the standard for the wire drawing industry world-wide, rendering other designs virtually obsolete.
