Generic Control by FPGA
It is possible to use a discrete FPGA or similar device to control a Kyocera LCD. The
advantage of this approach is that the FPGA would also contain much of the final product's
functionality without the expense of many discrete devices.
Ultimodule, +1-408-734-2300 offers
the UM-UMVC03, a small PCB which is their LCD controller. It has an FPGA containing their
UltiCVC LCD Display Controller functionality. It is used in their factory control network
system and can be sampled with a Kyocera LCD in an evaluation kit. They also offer the UltiCVC
as an IP product for a customer's FPGA.
Kanne & Associates, +1-850-586-0804,
has implemented FPGA-based LCD controllers and can easily do it again on a custom basis.
OpenCores.org, free open source IP cores,
appears to have a FPGA-proven
VGA/LCD Controller
in Verilog.
If you have programmable logic devices and their programming available for Kyocera LCD customers,
please contact Kyocera Industrial Ceramics to have your products listed here.
