Kyocera's expertise in single-crystal sapphire material enables us to offer sapphire windows with refined ceramic-to-metal bonding technology for outstanding performance in ultra-high-vacuum environments. One of the more exotic applications is a sapphire window for observing the fuel levels in rockets that carry satellites into orbit. The window's high reliability is ideal for this very low-temperature vacuum environment involving exposure to liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.
