KYOCERA Introduces New Double-Sided Negative Swiss Tools

MOUNTAIN HOME, N.C.--(October 28, 2008)--Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation, Cutting Tool Division, is pleased to introduce a new small, double-sided negative insert tool system for Swiss-type precision machining. The double-sided insert design provides two cutting edges, thus improving stability and doubling cost savings.

Advantages of Kyocera’s double-sided negative Swiss tools include:

-- Increased productivity and stability due to double-sided design
-- Sharp cutting edge equivalent to a positive insert edge
-- Excellent chip control from roughing to finishing
-- Special, smaller toolholder design facilitates multiple tool-post locations without sub-spindle interference
-- Available in two new PVD-coated grades:
-- PR1005 offers excellent wear resistance for titanium and free cutting steel
-- PR1025 offers superior fracture toughness for stainless steel and general use

Kyocera’s double-sided negative Swiss tool system helps facilitate continuous improvement in quality, productivity, reliability and cost reduction. The system is particularly suited to medical, electronic and computer device manufacturing.
