Kyocera Introduces Silicon Carbide Manufacturing at Vancouver, WA USA Plant
Vancouver, WA -- September 17, 2002 -- Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation today announced the addition of sintered silicon carbide to its line of non-oxide material capabilities at its manufacturing plant in Vancouver, WA. Sintered silicon carbide, best known for excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance, complements Kyocera’s existing line of sintered silicon nitride materials, which are recognized for extreme strength, toughness, thermal shock resistance and light weight.

Sintered silicon carbide is typically used in applications demanding an extremely hard, wear resistant surface, excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance or a combination of the three.

Both silicon carbide and silicon nitride can be manufactured into a wide variety of intricate components using Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation’s state-of-the-art forming, machining, sintering and grinding capabilities. Assembly services are also available when you need to combine a ceramic component with another part.
