Mountain Home, NC (December 15, 1998) -- Ceratip today announced the availability of Ball-Nose Endmills, a highly productive and economical endmill with several unique characteristics. The nose radius of Ceratip Ball-Nose Endmills features two full cutting edges, with increased metal removal rates due to the two effective flutes. The cutting edge of the radius portion is divided between three inserts, which improves the cutting action and causes the chips to break into smaller, more manageable pieces. The chipbreaker on each insert is specially designed to reduce cutting pressure; in addition, some inserts are perpendicular to the large radius inserts. Therefore, even in roughing operations at the full depth of cut, there is very little tendency for chatter or vibration. Ceratip's Ball-Nose Endmill takes three inserts. The ground nose insert offers precision while the tooling cost is reduced since the side radius and straight inserts are molded. Ceratip Ball-Nose Endmills are available in cutting diameters of 1¼", 1½", and 2". Ceratip, which manufactures ceramic, cermet and carbide cutting tool inserts in Mountain Home, NC, is a division of Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation. The group's parent company, Kyocera Corporation of Kyoto, Japan, is a multi-billion dollar global manufacturer and a world leader in advanced ceramics, electronic components, cutting tools, solar energy, electronic and optical equipment and telecommunication systems.
