KYOCERA Wireless Wins Top Recycling Award for Seventh Consecutive Year

San Diego, CA -- (June 13, 2007) -- Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and devices, announced that it has earned the 2007 "Recycler of the Year" award from the City of San Diego's Environmental Services Department (ESD). It marks the seventh consecutive year Kyocera's recycling efforts have been recognized with the city's highest environmental honor.

"Kyocera Corporation has a decades-long heritage of protecting the environment and conserving natural resources and it's been a core tenet of Kyocera Wireless since its inception in the U.S.," said Rod Lanthorne, president, Kyocera Wireless Corp. "We're honored to receive this recognition for outstanding recycling by the city for the seventh year in a row. Our entire company and all of its employees contributed to this success with our ongoing effort to recycle plastic, paper and electronics; use reclaimed water and conserve electricity."

The City of San Diego's Environmental Services Department annually recognizes exemplary businesses like Kyocera Wireless Corp. that have adopted or expanded innovative and successful waste reduction, recycling and recycled-product procurement programs. In 2006, Kyocera Wireless increased its overall recycling percentage by 12 percent by recycling more than one million pounds of paper, plastic, electronic and other waste otherwise destined for landfills. Additional savings resulted from using more than 4.5 million gallons of reclaimed water -- enough tap water to service 72 average households for one year -- and conserving more than 3.3 million KWh of electricity -- enough energy to power 687 average households for one year. Proving that good business practices and helping the environment are not mutually exclusive, Kyocera's programs contributed more than $78,000 in recycling revenue and almost $600,000 in cost avoidance to KWC's bottom line.

"Recycling and conserving resources are core to our business philosophy, but it's doubly rewarding when these good works also translate into bottom-line savings for our company," continued Lanthorne.
