Cricket Adds KYOCERA Energi to Phone Lineup

Affordable new phone combines style and personalization with features and performance

SAN DIEGO -- (October 5, 2004) -- Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones, and Cricket, a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless communications services, today announced the retail launch of the new Kyocera Energi. The newest member of Kyocera's most popular platform of phones to date, Energi combines affordability and ease of use with a long list of features. The phone can be customized with interchangeable faceplates on the outside, while the user interface can be personalized with many screensavers, wallpapers, polyphonic ringtones and cartoon caller alerts. Energi also features a unique new keypad design and Kyocera's renowned, intuitive menu, making text messaging and dialing easier than ever. Energi is available for $129.99 at authorized Cricket retailers.

"One of our top priorities is to offer our customers a wide range of handset choices, and the addition of the Energi gives Cricket customers a new, exciting and affordable option when purchasing their next phone," said Sergio Garcia, director of customer equipment for Cricket. "The sleek design, customized features and ability to sustain up to 3.5 hours of talk time meets the needs of our customers. The Energi offers function, style and fun, all for a great value."

Energi includes the key features that today's savvy wireless users want most: predictive text messaging, voice-activated dialing, built-in games, a complete contact directory and key productivity tools such as a scheduler and a calculator.

"Certainly the features we've included with Energi are excellent, but what's most important is that this phone is stylish and attractive and doesn't require a degree in computer science to operate," said Don McGuire, vice president of global marketing and North American sales at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "It's a great phone and we're confident that Cricket's customers will love it."

Built using the popular CDMA2000® 1X technology, Energi incorporates assisted-GPS locator functionality and has TTY and TDD capabilities for the hearing impaired. Predictive text-input software provides rapid text entry in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and the Energi sustains up to 3.5 hours of talk and up to 180 hours of standby time on a standard lithium ion battery. Productivity tools include a world clock, scheduler, calculator, alarm clock, tip calculator, countdown timer, vibrate alert and stopwatch. The Kyocera Energi weighs only 3.52 ounces and measures 4.45" x 1.89" x .91".
