Upper Canada College Selects KYOCERA Mita as Document Solutions Provider

KYOCERA Mita chosen based on ecological standards and long-term cost savings

February 28, 2005 – Mississauga, Ontario – Kyocera Mita Canada, a leading document imaging company, today announced that Upper Canada College (UCC) has selected Kyocera printing solutions to support the needs of faculty, staff and the student body. LaserNetworks will provide UCC Kyocera ECOSYS printers to complement its ‘Green School’ initiative, which promotes environmental awareness and responsibility at the school.

“Environmental consciousness is a key principle of our institution and Kyocera’s printers fall completely in line with that way of thinking,” said Kelly Ambrose, UCC’s Director of IT. “The ecological benefits and long-term cost savings that Kyocera’s ECOSYS products provide are a perfect solution to help us meet our vision.”

The UCC installed a variety of Kyocera ECOSYS printers, including the FS-1020D (21 pages per minute), the FS-3820N (29 pages per minute) and the FS-9520DN (51 pages per minute). Kyocera’s patented ECOSYS technology provides customers with a printing solution that incorporates long-life consumables with the lowest comparable cost per print by allowing toner to be replenished in a device without disposal of the print drum. The benefits of Kyocera's cartridge-free ECOSYS technology are twofold. Ecologically, ECOSYS helps to eliminate the environmental burden of used print cartridges that are now disposed of each year. Economically, by eliminating the recurring costs associated with replacement print cartridges, ECOSYS printers provide incremental savings allowing customers to recoup the printer's purchase price in a year or less, particularly in network printing environments.

“We are thrilled that UCC has chosen us to meet their printing needs and see this as a great endorsement of our ECOSYS technology,” said Marco Nalli, Marketing Manager for Kyocera Mita Canada. “We’re confident that the long-term benefits that they will realize by using these products will help them fulfill their ecological and financial ambitions.”

UCC began its ‘Green School’ initiative in 2002 in order to better address global environmental challenges as an organization, and through its community, including students, parents, graduates, friends and partners. Kyocera’s ECOSYS technology was a driving factor behind UCC’s decision. In addition, UCC selected Kyocera based on the products double sided printing ability, which reduces paper use and energy saving capabilities.

The FS-1020D, FS-3820N and the FS-9520DN are all available through authorized Kyocera dealers located throughout Canada.
