KYOCERA Mita America Earns Three Fall 2005 Pick of the Year Awards from Buyers Laboratory

KYOCERA products commended for superior performance and excellent value

FAIRFIELD, N.J. — November 29, 2005 — Kyocera Mita America, one of the world’s leading document imaging companies, today proudly announced that it has received three prominent awards from Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), the leading independent office equipment test lab and business consumer advocate. BLI has awarded a Fall 2005 ‘Pick of the Year’ award to the Kyocera KM-1820, KM-6030 and the KM-8030 while conferring a ‘Highly Recommended’ rating on both the Kyocera KM-6030 and the Kyocera KM-8030, identifying each model as “Best in Class” in the entire industry.

"The KM-1820, KM-6030 and KM-8030 earned BLI ‘Pick of the Year’ awards because all three products clearly demonstrated superior performance as judged by our expert team of technical analysts and editors,” said Anthony Polifrone, BLI's managing director. “By earning top marks in each category evaluated, all three products are winners for their value, offering a robust feature set combined with a price that is the lowest for comparatively equipped models.”

Bestowed twice yearly, the ‘Pick of the Year’ awards acknowledge products that have given the best overall performances in BLI’s rigorous battery of laboratory tests. BLI tests each product in critical performance areas, including reliability, misfeed frequency, copy and print image quality, copy and print productivity and efficiency, ease of use and economy.

“Consistent productivity in the most demanding work environments is a requirement, not an option. We are proud that these Kyocera products have been chosen as the standard by which others should be measured,” said Peter Hendrick, vice president of marketing, Kyocera Mita America. “Recognition such as this from a well-respected business consumer advocate such as BLI demonstrates to customers that they do not have to compromise between performance and value when selecting an MFP.”

The Award Winners…

The KM-8030 is a high-speed monochrome MFP that delivers 80 crisp pages per minute and features industry a class leading standard 200-sheet dual scan document processor. This permits larger quantities of originals to be scanned from the same batch, an important time-saver in the busy office environments where this product excels.

BLI has also awarded a “Highly Recommended” rating on the KM-8030, commending the MFP as for its “strong performance,” noting that it earned an “excellent” rating in such categories as “reliability,” “applications compatibility,” “toner yield,” “cost per page” and “value.” BLI went on to note that the KM-8030 offers a “suggested retail price that is almost $10,000 lower than the average for comparably equipped units.”

The KM-6030, also a “Highly Recommended” product, is an MFP designed with the same combination of functionality and value that defines the KM-8030, though at a different output speed. BLI noted that “in addition to proving to be highly reliable,” the KM-6030 “earned good marks across the board – for multitasking, productivity and image quality, as well as for network connectivity aspects of performance.”

The KM-1820 is a monochrome multifunctional product (MFP) rated at 18 pages per minute. Perfect for small offices and workgroups, the KM-1820 offers robust color scanning capabilities and an optional fax system. In its ‘Pick of the Year’ evaluation, BLI noted that the KM-1820 was the “top performer” in the Segment 1 legal-size category, offering “impressive performance for a very low cost.”
