KYOCERA MITA America Unveils Hybrid Software Development Platform and Strategy to Extend Value to its Multifunctional Products

Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions (HyPAS) Sets Stage for More Robust Software Integration and Customized Solutions for End-Users

Grapevine, Texas and Fairfield, NJ - September 16, 2008 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced its plans for a comprehensive software development platform and associated business strategy designed to deliver customized applications for its award-winning line of multifunctional systems.

Called HyPAS, or Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions, Kyocera Mita Corporation has applied significant investments toward establishing the company’s unique development platform and strategy to ensure dealers and end-users have a broad range of options for enabling select Kyocera MFPs to seamlessly integrate and operate in their specific environment.

Kyocera Mita America will deliver HyPAS in three phases. The first phase enables Kyocera to seamlessly integrate its select MFPs with popular, revenue-generating software such as Equitrac through both Java and Web Services applications. The second phase utilizes Kyocera’s professional services to provide dealers with customized applications via Java and Web Services SDKs. The third phase of HyPAS will be launched within a year, and will provide SDKs though a comprehensive third-party developer program, including web-based partner support.

"For many years, Kyocera has had the unique ability to deliver custom solutions though its common driver and powerful utilities such as PRESCRIBE. Now, our HyPAS platform strategy squarely recognizes that as the enterprise MFP connect rate increases, so does the need for our dealers to offer their customers more advanced security, device management and accounting capabilities," said Michael Pietrunti, president and CEO, Kyocera Mita America. "Utilizing both Java and Web Service technology we will be able to deliver server and embedded-based applications more quickly to our dealers; applications which truly help our dealers provide advanced solutions to satisfy complex customer requirements."

Kyocera Mita America introduced its HyPAS strategy, along with demonstrations of a panel customization tool for dealers called ScanFlow Studio and HyPAS-embedded applications KYOcapture and Equitrac, in conjunction with the company’s National Dealer Meeting, currently being held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas (September 15-17, 2008).
