KYOCERA MITA America Transforms the MFP through a Series of New HyPAS-Enabled Applications

New Applications Help Improve Productivity, Security and Workplace Efficiency

FAIRFIELD, N.J. – August 19, 2009 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced the availability of a series of advanced applications utilizing HyPAS (Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions) for the company’s line of TASKalfa multifunctional devices. HyPAS is a powerful and scalable software solution platform that optimizes the performance of Kyocera’s award-winning MFPs through custom, integrated software applications – all designed to meet the specific document imaging needs of every user.

Utilizing two key technologies, Web Services and Java™, HyPAS transforms a Kyocera TASKalfa MFP into a resource that evolves as its end-users business evolves – all resulting in enhanced information sharing and distribution, resource optimization and improved document workflows.

Kyocera’s new suite of HyPAS-enabled applications include:

PanelPlus
PanelPlus is a unique software tool that allows Kyocera authorized dealers to develop and deploy custom operation panel interfaces for end-user customers. PanelPlus also allows the integration of assigned settings to automate scanning tasks or workflows. PanelPlus boosts performance by providing task-focused, pre-programmed “One-Touch” Buttons such as: Scan to E-Mail; Scan to SMB (PC); or, Scan to FTP destinations, for an optimized and streamlined environment.

Kyocera is now offering advanced integration with both Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express products for print tracking and cost recovery. Kyocera’s embedded Equitrac solution simplifies print-copy tracking, and offers businesses and organizations greater management insight into document output volumes and helps to reduce overall print waste. The seamless integration between Equitrac and Kyocera’s HyPAS ensures that businesses and users will experience unprecedented convenience, security, productivity and cost savings.

PrintQ Manager Secure Print Release
PrintQ Manager (PQM) Secure Print Release from Kyocera offers Windows users more advanced print management and security benefits for select Kyocera MFPs. By fully utilizing PrintQ Manager embedded in HyPAS-enabled devices, the end-user printing experience is further enhanced with such features as print authentication and authorization management using Active Directory. PQM Secure Print Release provides an easy to navigate user interface, print job release directly from the device panel, more robust reporting capabilities, as well as HID card authentication support.

Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition
Through its HyPAS technology, Kyocera is now offering advanced integration with Open Text Fax Server. RightFax integration gives users the ability to scan and send documents directly from select Kyocera MFPs via the RightFax server. Companies can securely and efficiently deliver business information from virtually any application via fax, email, a Kyocera device or over the Internet. As a result, businesses that use RightFax can reduce operating costs, while also improving their ability to meet security and compliance requirements.

With HyPAS, organizations will be able to enhance the overall functionality of their document output devices, resulting in a lower cost of operation and more immediate return on their investments.”

In the future, Kyocera expects to launch several additional HyPAS applications, including a scanning utility application for Apple’s popular iPhone and iPod Touch as well as a new suite of security tools.

About HyPAS
Kyocera’s HyPAS offers both Java-based and Web Services-based Software Development Kits (SDKs), and delivers a broad range of options for enabling Kyocera MFPs to seamlessly integrate and operate in a specific business environment. Additionally, HyPAS provides an open and flexible platform, enabling advanced integration with systems already implemented within an enterprise.

Java, a programming language commonly used in mobile applications, such as cell phones, provides the capability to embed features and applications within the document imaging device itself. By embedding Java applications within Kyocera MFPs, existing feature sets can be extended with more advanced, feature-rich, server-less capabilities - thus delivering seamless integration and advanced control capability. By adopting industry standard protocols such as SOAP/XML, HyPAS Web Services offers programmers a developer-friendly environment. Web Service applications provide system integrators with flexibility and interoperability because they can be implemented on a wide range of platforms and using almost any programming language. By combining two technologies, HyPAS delivers expanded versatility and capability.
