KYOCERA MITA America TASKalfa 500ci Color MFP Series Earns Pantone Approval for Industry Leading Color Imaging Capabilities

FAIRFIELD, N.J. – December 1, 2009 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, announced today that its TASKalfa 500ci color multifunctional product (MFP) series has been approved for PANTONE® Color production capabilities by Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technologies.

As PANTONE-approved devices, the TASKalfa 500ci series can now offer enterprise users the ability to generate professional-grade documents and collateral using Pantone’s industry-recognized global standard PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM®. In being PANTONE-approved, the TASKalfa 500ci series was noted for its consistent quality, reliability and performance in printing business collateral, including presentations, brochures and inserts, without compromising color quality.

In order to earn Pantone approval, Pantone’s color scientists and analysts developed expertly tuned look-up tables (LUT), specific to Kyocera’s TASKalfa 500ci series to enable users to print the best possible simulations of PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Colors. As the composition of the colors depends upon the printing system, the TASKalfa 500ci series was closely analyzed to meet the high standards that Pantone demands of candidates for their color matching approval. In developing the LUT for Kyocera, Pantone conducted rigorous testing which took into consideration the effect of the toner, print driver, resolution, and engine of the TASKalfa 500ci series on PANTONE Color reproduction.

“The TASKalfa 500ci engine is an award-winning series, already recognized by the industry for its superior image quality, performance and ultra-reliability. Now, with PANTONE Color support, we have elevated performance to another level, giving end-users true peace of mind in knowing that their color documents can be produced with accurate PANTONE Color for consistent, quality output,” said Danielle Wolowitz, senior manager, MFP product and solutions, Kyocera Mita America. “We are thrilled to deliver yet another distinctive advantage for Kyocera’s flagship fleet of color multifunctional document solutions.”

Pantone is excited to bring their industry-leading color capabilities to Kyocera’s TASKalfa 500ci line.
“In order to achieve approval from Pantone, the TASKalfa 500ci series underwent an exacting development process to ensure accurate representations of PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Colors,” said Andy Hatkoff, vice president of OEM and Technology Licensing, Pantone. “The combination of Kyocera’s quality engineering with Pantone’s color leadership brings new opportunities for companies seeking the ability to create industry-leading business collateral that reflects any organization’s color requirements for corporate identity and product branding.”

Introduced to industry acclaim in December 2008, the TASKalfa 500ci (40 pages per minute color/50 ppm black), TASKalfa 400ci (40ppm color/40 ppm black), TASKalfa 300ci (30 ppm color/30 ppm black) and TASKalfa 250ci (25 ppm color/25 ppm black) recently received BERTL’s Best and BERTL’s Five Star Exceptional award accolades for its color digital imaging quality, innovative control panel features and recognition as the best value in the Color A3 segment. BERTL, Inc. is a leading news, research and critical analysis service for the office technology industry.

The ability to offer PANTONE Color capabilities adds to the high existing functionality of the TASKalfa 500ci series. All the TASKalfa color models incorporate a vibrant 8.5-inch color touch screen control panel. With scanning speeds up 100 images per minute, an optional dual scan document processor reads double-sided pages in a single pass for maximum productivity. In addition, the TASKalfa 500ci series offers several standard scanning destinations, including Scan-to-E-mail, Scan-to-Folder (SMB), Scan-to-FTP, Scan-to-USB, WSD scanning (Windows® Vista) and TWAIN scanning, with resolutions ranging from 200-600 dpi for a fast and efficient end user experience. For efficient document output, the TASKalfa 500ci series comes with standard duplexing and can include up to a 4,100 sheet paper capacity with the ability to accommodate heavier paper stock (up to 120 lb Index), all with advanced finishing and paper handling options.
