KYOCERA MITA America Expands Its Cost-Effective and Energy Efficient ECOSYS and TASKalfa Color Product Lines

The FS-C8500DN Color Printer and TASKalfa 552ci Color Multifunctional System Deliver High Productivity and Superior Image Quality

FAIRFIELD, N.J. – January 26, 2010 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced the launch of the FS-C8500DN color laser printer and the TASKalfa 552ci color multifunctional system. Encompassing the ultra-reliability, unsurpassed performance and proven color technology businesses demand, these new devices offer highly productive output speeds, affordability and flexible output capabilities for any office environment.

As part of Kyocera’s ECOSYS® line of environmentally friendly printers, the FS-C8500DN (50 pages per minute (ppm) color, 55ppm black) is Energy Star™ certified for power efficiency and utilizes long-life consumables for consistent high-quality image output in this ultra-reliable, high performance and affordable printer. The TASKalfa 552ci (50 ppm color, 55ppm black) expands Kyocera’s award-winning, flagship multifunctional product (MFP) series offering long-life components and embedded Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions (HyPAS) technology, Kyocera’s powerful and scalable software solutions platform, providing users with seamless integration with software applications that will operate in virtually any environment.

Both the FS-C8500DN and TASKalfa 552ci utilize Kyocera’s long-life technology, known to deliver the ultra-reliability that businesses demand. This long-life consumable technology helps to reduce required service intervention while maximizing performance in every environment. The FS-C8500DN and TASKalfa 552ci help to improve the document workflow by providing more business “uptime” through an industry-leading 300,000-page preventive maintenance (PM) schedule. This incredible PM cycle creates longer intervals of time between required service visits and helps minimize maintenance costs for end-users and keeps organizational productivity high.

“Today’s businesses are looking for highly-efficient document imaging solutions with superior image quality and maximum performance,” said William Cassidy, associate director, product and solutions marketing for Kyocera Mita America. “The Kyocera ECOSYS and TASKalfa product lines combine efficiency, performance and affordability and help organizations reduce costs without compromising speed or quality. With Kyocera’s technology, the FS-C8500DN and TASKalfa 552ci deliver the consistent quality output, manageability and ultra-reliability that businesses need to maximize document workflow and improve their bottom line.

Flexible and Versatile Features

To maximize workgroup productivity and efficiency, both the FS-C8500DN and TASKalfa 552ci feature standard duplex printing and network printing capabilities, large memory capacity (FS-C8500DN: 1GB of memory, upgradeable to 2GB; TASKalfa 552ci: 2GB standard), PDF and Microsoft XPS file printing capability (including Kyocera’s Direct Print utility) and departmental accounting and tracking capabilities. The FS-C8500DN and TASKalfa 552ci can support various network operating systems (Mac, Linux and Windows® operating systems, including Windows 7 OS) for use across any office network.

Both products feature 600 dpi color document output and class-leading maximum monthly duty cycle of 225,000, and comes standard with a USB host interface, allowing mobile users to select files and print from (FS-C8500DN) or print-from and scan-to (TASKalfa 552ci) any USB drive in PDF, JPEG, TIFF and XPS file formats directly at the device.

The FS-C8500DN and TASKalfa 552ci can print on a broad range of materials made of a variety of paper stock, and comes standard with dual 500-sheet drawers and a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray (MPT). In addition to paper saving standard duplexing, Kyocera’s new products offer an optional 3,000-sheet paper finisher that can support media up to 120 lb index. Maximum paper capacity (with options) is an impressive 4,100 sheets from four different paper sources to minimize user intervention and maintain high office productivity.

Network and Security and Performance Delivered

Kyocera offers a multitude of optional network and device management tools to enhance productivity, device management and document output. These tools include the KX Driver, KMnet Viewer, PrintQ Manager, Status Monitor, and PRESCRIBE; and can be deployed across any organization. PrintQ Manager, a server-based software tool, allows companies to monitor, maintain and analyze print jobs and usage on all Kyocera networked printers. Kyocera offers the Color Optimizer, a KX Driver plug-in that provides end-users printing in color to improve color reproduction on their critical business documents.

For businesses with heightened security or compliance requirements, both products offer a standard IPv6 and IPsec compliant network interface with Private Print and Secure Printing functionality - all of which are password protected document security features. Additionally, both products offer an optional Data Security Kit (The TASKalfa 552ci data security kit is currently under ISO 15408/Common Criteria evaluation) to ensure the highest level of security overwrite and encryption. When end-users print on the FS-C8500DN or print, copy or scan on the TASKalfa 552ci, data is stored electronically on the hard disk drive and remain after the job is complete. Kyocera’s Data Security Kit offers a three-time overwrite or one-time overwrite setting to ensure confidential or critical information is never compromised.
