KYOCERA Document Solutions America Announces National Contest Winner, Finalists

FAIRFIELD, N.J. – August 7, 2012 - KYOCERA Document Solutions America, one of the world's leading document solutions companies, has announced its Grand Prize winner and regional finalists for its “Taking Care of Business” demo competition for authorized dealers across the United States. This sales program builds on the strong history of the annual technical competition, the Kyocera Global Service Award. The overwhelming five year success of this service program led Kyocera to extend a similar competition to the selling representatives within its U.S. dealer community.

Brian Frost, of Witt Company, in Washington State, took first place in the nationwide competition.

Regional finalists included:

Ben Lankes, of WNY Imaging Systems, Inc., in New York
Rob Montgomery, of Meritech, in Ohio
Elaine Harman, of Copiers Plus, in North Carolina
James Hester, of Applied Business Concepts, in Louisiana

All finalists earned a trip to Kyocera’s Pan-American Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas where they shared their knowledge and key techniques though a moderated panel discussion. They will continue to reach the Kyocera dealer community through a video series that is accessible from The Learning Center, Kyocera’s learning management tool. These progressive demonstrations are being regarded as benchmarks for all representatives selling the complete Kyocera portfolio including products, applications and services.

Kyocera’s “Taking Care of Business” demo contest challenged individuals to showcase their consultative sales process, by conducting a demo that went beyond the device. Demonstrations combine product technology with business applications and services to differentiate Kyocera’s offerings, and provide a total document solution to customers.

All contestants had to:

  • Submit a video “Customer Presentation” and written “Business Proposal” that addressed the specific needs of a customer scenario;
  • Develop a plan for leading with a broad and balanced deployment strategy of devices (MFPs, Printers, A4 MFPs) to maximize the customer’s total document value, while minimizing the impact on our environment;
  • Showcase the integration of Kyocera services and value-added Business Applications and/or Kyocera’s portfolio of third-party solutions; and
  • Participate in a Q&A session from a “customer” (members of the Kyocera judging panel).

After two initial rounds, five finalists were invited, all expenses paid, to attend the Kyocera’s annual Pan-American Dealer Sales Meeting in Las Vegas. A total of 170 individuals participated in the contest.
