PCTEL and KYOCERA Wireless Announce Plans to Develop Software for Future 3G Phones Enabling IMS Applications

Chicago, IL and San Diego, CA -- (July 12, 2005) -- PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a global leader in simplifying broadband mobility, and Kyocera Wireless Corp, a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, jointly announced today their plans to cooperate in developing software for future 3G Kyocera handsets. The development will leverage PCTEL's industry leading Roaming Client software for secure and automatic connections to various wireless networks as well as enabling seamless phone calls over mobile and VoIP networks. Kyocera's 3G phones will also incorporate PCTEL's security and authentication modules for various service providers' networks.

"We demonstrated our Roaming Client and VoIP solutions earlier this year at 3GSM and CTIA. Now we are working directly with important handset vendors," said Biju Nair, PCTEL's vice president and general manager for its Mobility Solutions Group. "Kyocera is a proven and innovative leader in the CDMA handset space and it is a privilege to be working with them to serve the wireless operators," added Nair.

"Feature-rich, standards-compliant client software will enable service providers tackle one of the biggest challenges in upcoming converged networks - interoperability," said Savi Soin, senior director of business development at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "Our relationship with PCTEL helps us ensure that our future 3G handsets offer service providers new avenues for revenue generation and competitive differentiation."

Convergence between wireless networks has proven to be the emerging area of focus for handset and infrastructure manufacturers. Co-mingling of such IP networks demonstrates the first applications of IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystems). Such applications include Single Identity Voice Roaming, Push To Talk, Push to View, Instant Messaging, and Conferencing.

PCTEL currently supplies its Roaming Client products to T-Mobile (U.S.), Cingular, SBC, NTT DoCoMo, GoRemote and others. The product includes a powerful back-end server (Central Configuration Server) that enables complete carrier control over the network contents and use of the client.
