Smith Micro's Internet Solutions Division Wins Contract to Upgrade The Kyocera Wireless Accessory E-Store, Host Site & Handle Order Fulfillment

Smith Micro's Ability to Meet All Three Needs Streamlines E-Commerce Management

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Feb. 11 - The Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a developer and marketer of a wide range of software and service solutions for the wireless and broadband markets, today announced the signing of a contract to handle Web site development work, Web site hosting responsibilities and order fulfillment for Kyocera Wireless Corp.'s online phone Accessory Store (http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/store). In addition, Smith Micro implemented the order processing system utilized by Kyocera's customer service representatives for accessory orders placed over the phone. Kyocera selected Smith Micro because of its ability to handle all of these tasks, which greatly simplified the wireless company's management of its e-commerce operations.

Smith Micro has completed a series of upgrades to the Kyocera site, transferred the Web site from another service provider to Smith Micro's own hosting facility, and began fulfilling orders placed through Kyocera's site from its warehouse in Aliso Viejo, CA.

Site upgrades to date have included a new Web-enabled reporting system, integration with Smith Micro's back-end fulfillment application, and transitioning of the call center agents' application for placing phone orders from a modem-based mainframe system to a faster and simpler Windows-based interface with high speed connectivity. The fulfillment operation includes shipping, returns, inventory management and customer payments. Products handled in the fulfillment operation range from batteries and chargers to car power adapters, data cables, leather cases, connectivity tools and colored faceplates for Kyocera phones.

"Consolidating all of these e-commerce functions with a single provider gives us one point of contact, one bill and essentially a one-stop shop for our accessory-related e-commerce activities," said Trish Arellano, Senior Manager for Kyocera Wireless Corp. "At the same time, Smith Micro gives us a strong Microsoft-certified development team that has been able to streamline our call center operations through improved technology." "We have gradually expanded our services in order to offer a complete solution for managing our clients' online businesses," said Chris Lippincott, General Manager of the Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro. "By providing site development, hosting and fulfillment from one source, we enable customers like Kyocera to substantially reduce the overhead required for keeping their e-commerce operations running smoothly."
