KYOCERA WIRELESS CORP. BUNDLES AVANTGO CLIENT WITH NEW SMARTPHONES

Verizon Wireless Customers Gain Out-Of-The-Box Access to AvantGo Mobile Internet Service and Over 1000 Optimized Websites

SAN MATEO and SAN DIEGO, Calif. - April 18, 2001 - AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVGO), the leading provider of mobile infrastructure software and services, and Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading innovator of CDMA wireless handsets, today announced that Kyocera is bundling the award-winning AvantGo software with the Kyocera QCP™ 6035 Smartphone handsets offered through Verizon Wireless. Through this bundling agreement, Verizon Wireless customers have access to over 1,000 AvantGo interactive and personalized content and application channels using the Kyocera Smartphone.

The AvantGo mobile Internet service provides users with wireless and offline access to the web and over 1000 channels of content and applications optimized for mobile devices' small screens, featuring news, sports, finance, entertainment, business, travel and much more. Now Verizon Wireless subscribers using the Kyocera Smartphone can use the AvantGo service wirelessly when they need real-time information such as flight updates, e-mail, stock quotes, directions or maps, or they can wirelessly synchronize information to their phones for offline use. By enabling best-of-class wireless synchronization and browsing, the AvantGo mobile Internet service will increase minutes of use and drive greater customer satisfaction for Verizon Wireless.
