Kyocera Mita and OMD Corporation Announce the Industry'’s First Integrated and Seamless Meter Read Collection Solution

This combined solution provides dealers with an automated, electronic meter count reducing human error or loss of productivity

Fairfield, New Jersey and Jefferson City, Missouri - November 20, 2002 - Kyocera Mita, one of the world’s leading document imaging companies, and OMD Corporation, the leading provider of business software solutions and dealership automation, today announced a new interface connecting Kyocera Mita’s networked printers and copiers with the OMD iManager. This interface is critical to dealers because it eliminates human error, reduces administrative burden and costs, increases productivity and improves cash flow.

Kyocera Mita connected products will automatically send an email from the end user location, with the latest total meter count to the KM-NET@ServiceGateway at a designated time. KM-NET@ServiceGateway then transmits the meter information into the servicing dealer’s OMD system via OMD iManager. Once the meter information is captured in the dealer’s OMD system, the customer’s records are updated with the latest meter readings enabling cycle billing without any human intervention.

“Kyocera Mita dealers will realize a lower Total Cost of Service and increased customer satisfaction by integrating OMD iManager with our networked office products via the KM-NET@ServiceGateway,” said Michael Pietrunti, vice president of marketing at Kyocera Mita America. “This solution combined with our guaranteed long-life components and unitized maintenance product design, creates a seemless end-to-end package for dealers and end users helping them to efficiently administer their output devices.”

David Nagel, vice president at OMD said, “This is a milestone in technology. Dealers have been asking for a seamless way to obtain meter counts directly from their customers’ equipment in order to filter it into their OMD meter fields for cycle billing. The OMD iManager accomplishes this task with the Kyocera Mita KM-NET@ServiceGateway and also provides the customer with the ability to enter service calls, order equipment, and review vital information on the end user fleet of equipment on a 24/7 basis via a secure internet site.”

The solution currently available from OMD and Kyocera Mita has the ability to capture the total meter count. Additional capabilities being considered include obtaining multiple meters and the ability to transmit service diagnostic codes seamlessly from Kyocera Mita products into the OMD System.
