Samartha Nagabhushanam Appointed Managing Director for Kyocera Wireless India

BANGALORE - (May 26, 2004) – Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and telemetry modules, today announced that Samartha Nagabhushanam has been appointed managing director of Kyocera Wireless (India) Private Limited (“KWI”). Nagabhushanam was formerly director of engineering for the Bangalore-based subsidiary of Kyocera Wireless Corp.

“Samartha continues to demonstrate innovative leadership for Kyocera Wireless in India, and his expertise and responsibilities are now more accurately reflected as managing director of KWI,” said Tsuyoshi Mano, president of Kyocera Wireless Corp. “His knowledge, leadership and strategic management remain vital to positioning Kyocera as a brand of choice in the global handset industry.”

Kyocera Wireless (India) Private Limited was established as a subsidiary of Kyocera Wireless Corp. in September 2003 and currently employs more than 130 people. KWI’s strong engineering team is complemented by a sales group that has provided handsets to India’s four largest CDMA carriers: Reliance, Tata Teleservices, BSNL, and MTNL. Kyocera also assembles phones in India through a partnership with XL Telecom.

India is one of the world’s fastest growing wireless telecommunication markets. According to analyst firm Strategy Analytics, the wireless subscriber base grew from approximately 28.7 million in 2003 to nearly 48 million in 2004, a number that is expected to triple by 2008.
