KYOCERA Mita America Earns EAL3 Common Criteria Certification for Color Multifunctional Products

KYOCERA's Data Security Kit (D) Protects End Users from Unauthorized Theft of Data Stored on Office Color and Monochrome Multifunctional Products (MFPs)

FAIRFIELD, N.J. - December 4, 2006 - Kyocera Mita America, one of the world's leading document solutions companies, announced today that its Data Security Kit (D) Software V1.00E has received validation for Evaluation Assurance Level 3 (EAL3) security standards from an independent testing facility in Japan.

Data Security Kit (D) is in compliance with the International Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (ISO 15408), an international standard for information security products. Kyocera products compatible with the Data Security Kit (D) currently include the KM-C3232, KM-C3225 and KM--C2520 color and monochrome multifunctional products (MFPs).

Kyocera's Data Security Kit (D) is an advanced security solution designed to help companies protect the privacy of information across select Kyocera multifunctional products. Kyocera's Data Security Kit acts as a powerful "memory scrubber" that automatically overwrites information remaining on an MFP's hard drive after each copy, print and scan job is completed. This works to prevent unauthorized user access to confidential information retained in the MFP's hard disk drive, thus reducing the threat of a security breach at the device.

"In today's environment, information security is absolutely vital," says Peter Hendrick, vice president, marketing at Kyocera Mita America. "Kyocera is committed to designing and implementing data and network security solutions that give our users the ability to manage their workflow in a safe, secure and productive manner. This Common Criteria certification validates our ongoing efforts to make data security a reality for customers in any business or government environment."

Kyocera's Data Security Kit (D) is part of a suite of security offerings that includes Kyocera-developed and industry business solutions such as e-MPS secure print, KYOcapture network authentication, the KX Driver Security Watermark, and Kyocera's network interface cards which offers advanced security features such as IP filtering and password protection. These security solutions offer protection for sensitive or corruptible documents against accidental interception or intentional theft. Businesses looking to initiate a comprehensive security strategy will find that Kyocera products and solutions offer a tremendous value in achieving their goals.
