Canary Wireless and KYOCERA Wireless Collaborate on New M2M Products
New KYOCERA Module Offers Design Flexibility, Meets Demand for CDMA-GSM Interchangeability
San Diego, CA & Schaumburg, IL -- (October 23, 2007) -- Canary Wireless, a global wireless technology provider for OEMs and ODMs, and Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and devices, today announced their collaboration in developing machine-to-machine (M2M) communication products that operate across both CDMA and GSM wireless environments. Canary Wireless’ CDMA-based products will now integrate the new Kyocera 300 Module with an optimized design and similar physical footprint to match Canary’s existing GSM-based products powered by Siemens GSM modules. A recent pioneering alliance between Kyocera Wireless and Siemens enables this new breed of products from Canary Wireless, offering increased integration and design flexibility for a rapidly expanding marketplace requiring global communications across both wireless platforms. In addition, the companies will work more closely in sales and early development phases to bring an expanded and highly cohesive team of design experts together for customers seeking innovative wireless solutions.“The relationship between Kyocera Wireless and Siemens to increase interoperability between their respective modules gives Canary the ability to easily integrate solutions that operate in both CDMA and GSM environments,” said Steve Deutscher, president of Canary Wireless. “Because we’re working closely with both companies in the sales and design process, we’re able to bring our expertise to customers starting with the concept phase all the way through implementation, which decreases the time it takes to bring a solution to market and ultimately saves money for end-users.”
“Business and economies are increasingly global in nature. By working together, Canary Wireless, Siemens and Kyocera are able to offer products that can be used by global enterprises that have operations in multiple countries and need to operate across different wireless environments,” said Dean Fledderjohn, general manager of the M2M product line at Kyocera Wireless Corp. “The M2M marketplace is experiencing tremendous growth partly due to collaborations like ours that enable smart M2M solutions that make communicating and managing operations easier and more effective.”
