KYOCERA MITA America Enhances TCO Tracker Printer Evaluation Tool with IDC for Award-Winning ECOSYS® Printer Line
Kyocera Enables Organizations the Ability to Analyze the True Total Cost of Ownership of their Printing Operations with Data from Leading Industry Research Firm IDC
FAIRFIELD, N.J. – June 23, 2009 - Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced the launch of its unique TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) Tracker for its entire line of black and white and color ECOSYS printers, with data now provided by IDC, the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology market. The TCO Tracker™ is an interactive, web-based research tool that allows businesses to calculate how much money they can save with a Kyocera ECOSYS printer versus competing monochrome and color printers using customizable criteria, determined by the end-user.
Kyocera's TCO Tracker offers unparalleled insight into the true cost of owning and operating printers. Utilizing data from IDC, the TCO Tracker will compare the competitive street price of a business printer to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of a comparable Kyocera printer, including hardware and consumables. The TCO Tracker allows the customer to set certain print variables such as page volume, page coverage and the length of device ownership to more closely match their business printing environment.
As businesses seek to control costs and curtail spending, the TCO Tracker is a free, easy-to-use, informative tool for organizations to more accurately evaluate printing costs of their current printer, or against a comparable Kyocera ECOSYS printer. The TCO Tracker cost data is refreshed each month, which ensures customers are comparing the most recent and accurate cost data from a well known and well respected market intelligence firm.
“As businesses are looking to navigate the current economic climate, an area with strong savings potential is evaluating printing costs,” said Brian Clarke, vice president of Pricing Evaluation at IDC. “There are major cost savings with using peripherals that are efficient in their use of toner and drums. Similarly, many organizations are finding tremendous cost savings by analyzing their printer fleet needs and evaluating how much coverage they actually need in the office.”
“Kyocera Mita America takes pride in delivering one of the industry’s lowest total cost of ownership, and toward that mission, we are excited to offer IT decision makers and end-users the ability to assess the true expense of their current printers with data from a leading global market research firm of IDC’s stature,” said William Cassidy, associate director, Product and Solutions Marketing, Kyocera Mita America. “We encourage organizations to explore the true cost of their printers and allow the TCO Tracker to recommend the best printer solutions to address their document imaging needs. Our ECOSYS printer line offers the economical and ecological value organizations are looking for, making our TCO Tracker a very timely tool for identifying the best value.”
Kyocera’s ECOSYS® printers utilize a patented long life drum for increased document quality and reduced downtime. The drum is separate from the toner cartridge, eliminating the need to replace the drum when toner is depleted, saving both consumable costs and reducing overall landfill waste. Designed for responsible printing, ECOSYS printers are Energy Star™ certified for their operating efficiency, and automatically operate in standby mode when not in use to reduce power costs.
