KYOCERA MITA America Simplifies Device Management and Security with New Card Authentication Kit

Card Readers and HyPAS Applications Cost-Effectively Control Access and Reduce Waste for Kyocera’s TASKalfa MFPs

FAIRFIELD, N.J. – October 7, 2010 – Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world’s leading document solutions companies, is helping companies increase security, manage resources and monitor usage at the device level with the launch of a Card Authentication Kit for select Kyocera multifunctional products (MFPs). The Card Authentication Kit includes administrative software from Kyocera and card reading technology from RF IDeas, a developer of proximity and contactless card reader solutions.

The Card Authentication Kit gives organizations – and their network administrators – greater control over their MFPs. Once installed and configured, the Card Authentication Kit quickly authenticates users onto the Kyocera MFP with a simple swipe of their proximity-enabled ID Badge. For organizations requiring enhanced security features, the Card Authentication Kit can seamlessly integrate with Kyocera’s advanced security solution such as AccessLock, which provides added functionality for advanced authentication, authorization, secure print release and usage tracking.

“Preventing unauthorized intrusion and confidential data loss is a serious matter for any organization, and Kyocera is committed to providing solutions that increase and simplify security at the device, while giving management the power they need to eliminate waste and control costs,” said Michele McDonald, product & solutions marketing manager, Black & White MFPs at Kyocera Mita America. “Card-reading technology from RF IDeas combined with Kyocera’s security features and HyPAS applications provide the most sophisticated features for enhancing data security and document and device management. It’s trusted and reliable solutions like the Card Authentication Kit that keep Kyocera at the forefront of document security.”

In an era when protecting information is as essential to business as is eliminating waste, controlling costs, and monitoring usage, Kyocera’s Card Authentication Kit is a quick, convenient and cost-effective solution for businesses of all sizes. For organizations with existing identification card systems for workplace access, the same card can now be used to manage access to Kyocera MFPs, authorize users for features specific to their job function and improve document security.

“Managing access is a critical business function, and with the integration of RF IDeas’ proximity card readers with Kyocera MFPs, end users can now use their existing badges for authentication and authorization at the device,” said Rick Landuyt, president of RF IDeas. “Bringing together RF Ideas’ card readers and Kyocera MFPs will result in cost savings, increased security, and responsible printing. We are happy to be identified as a supported peripheral option and partner of Kyocera’s.”
