KYOCERA Document Solutions America Simplifies Secure Network Scanning with PinPoint Scan
Kyoceras PinPoint Scan Business Application Integrates with HyPAS®-enabled Multifunctional Products for Simple and Secure Peer-to-Peer Scanning
FAIRFIELD, N.J. – April 18, 2012 – KYOCERA Document Solutions America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, today announced the availability of PinPoint Scan, a business application created to enable simple and secure scanning from a Kyocera HyPAS-enabled Multifunctional Product (MFP) directly to a network connected personal computer (PC). As scanning is one of the most important functions of document workflow, Kyocera’s PinPoint Scan makes scanning from an MFP to a network connected PC as easy as scanning from a desktop scanner – but with the added speed and versatility Kyocera MFPs provide.
PinPoint Scan makes network scanning simple, requiring only a two-step installation process, one download to the MFP and one to a PC. Once installed, the straight-forward PC-side of PinPoint Scan allows end users to create and manage a unique personal identification number (PIN). Upon entering the PIN at any PinPoint Scan-enabled MFP on the network – that MFP will then rapidly search the network, find the user’s PC, and scan directly to it.
“A unique business application, PinPoint Scan protects an organization’s confidential documents and maximizes document workflow and productivity with simple and straightforward MFP-to-PC encrypted scanning,” said Peter Hendrick, vice president, KYOCERA Document Solutions America. ”Scanning is a fundamental part of any organization’s document workflow, PinPoint Scan gives users in small- and medium-sized organizations, or workgroups in large organizations, the ease-of-use offered by desktop scanners from their networked MFPs.”
PinPoint Scan can support any number of user PCs and easily integrates with proximity cards for an even more streamlined scanning experience with advanced security. End users can also define the exact destination for the scanned document: Desktop, My Documents folder, Nuance PaperPort or as an attachment in a new email. In addition, any folder on a PC, any program that supports PDF files, (i.e. Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop) can easily be configured as PinPoint Scan destinations with simple one-touch buttons on network connected MFPs.
PinPoint Scan Business Application Benefits
- Simple setup, with one-time application installation on the MFP (for scanning document) and one-time PinPoint Scan utility installation on PC (for receiving scanned file)
- Quickly convert hardcopy into high-impact color or monochrome files, in universal PDF format
- Route documents virtually anywhere with easy 1-touch buttons – email, shared folder or a program that supports PDF files
- Highly secure with PIN or optional proximity card protection, MFP and file access restrictions, as well as SSL-encrypted communication
